My car is a Toyota Corolla with 140k. The engine is in great condition but after getting rear-ended, the bumper is missing, the trunk no longer opens, and the passenger window does not go down. Insurance paid me out instead of fixing it, saying it was a total loss. I have driven it 6 months since then with zero problems. But I don't know if it will pass inspection in 6 more months. I suspect I can get $1000 in parts.
His car is a Ford Escape hybrid. Slightly newer with the same amount of miles (140k). In good aesthetic condition. Kelley Blue Book prices his as slightly more valuable than mine before the damage.
So it seems like a no-brainer, except my Toyota would have and could still drive another 100k miles, easily. And I know the hybrid will be much more expensive to maintain.
What do I do?
