Hi folks,My brother-in-law is about 52, and I have learned an immense amount of knowledge from working with him on houses, carpentry projects, etc. It's just incredible how much he knows - he built a steel frame house, rehabs my sister's low-income rentals, and can basically do any sort of reno/repair work.He has a basement shop with about 30 years of tools - everything from welders and various saws, sanders, and drills to every hand tool I can imagine. They were broken into last week - their house has a steel frame back door with various deadbolts and a solid wooden front door. The burglars ripped the front door entirely off its frame and stayed a while evidently, leaving empty beers. The cops came, fingerprinted the cans, etc. Four days later, the thieves came back during the day and finished the job, taking the majority of his small hand tools. Estimated loss around $5k. If anyone's familiar with Fair Haven, it's not surprising that no one cared to call the police while likely watching all of this.My sister wrote an email and said they took "it included the lawn mower, table saws, reciprocating saws, a ton of hand tools, A/C, small fridge, even the new kitchen sink that had yet to be installed."Anyway - they're not rich folks and have a 6 year old child. So basically I'm just wondering if anyone has any spare tools they don't use or wouldn't mind parting with and live near New Haven, CT?Please feel free to PM me. I'll probably x-post this in r/woodworkingI've never done something like this before and hope it's not taken the wrong way. Thank you alledit: for the natural skeptics, like me, I can likely provide police report and meet him in person via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2hQB3t9
