Hi r/personalfinance!

I live in Florida and my husband and I bought our first home about 2 years ago.

I recently received a phone call from a law office looking to collect a debt. I discovered through Credit Karma that the debt in question is from the apartment complex we lived in before buying our home, and this is the first I am hearing about it. In Florida, landlords are suppose to send a letter through certified mail declaring the cost of damages to seek payment. We never received such a letter, nor did we receive any correspondence from them whatsoever despite them having our phone numbers and email addresses (they never asked us for our new address when we notified them that we would be vacating the apartment, despite this discussion taking place face to face).

I have submitted a dispute through all three credit agencies explaining all of this. Is there any thing more I can do? Thanks!
