So, basically I have an issue with my boss. He told me to do some research and reading, been poking around and figured I'd ask here.
There are glaring issues with the company I work at and I would like some opinions or maybe insights that I could be overlooking.
First of all, no one gets paid overtime. Even though we work longer hours.
Secondly, we don't get paid by the company. We get e-transfer money from a personal bank account.
Thirdly, my commissions are based off of sales in which they look like this.
Aug. 1-15 sales 9,757.00 CGS $5,205 Subtotal $4,552 wages $(1,733) Visa Payment 2.50% $(284.12) Total $2,535.4 @10% $254
$254
The breakdown. I make sales, the cost of goods come off those sales. After my wages and visa percentages on transactions are deducted from that amount, we then have the total profit in which I get 10% of.
My biggest concern so far that is glaring, is that the wages section consist of my wages and then added $5/hr since that is what he claims he pays to the government to match my CPP/EI and other deductibles.
For example, I've made $1430 this term and after taxes $1167
After some research, it seems that he may be claiming to be paying me to government in order to acquire a higher tax write off. The government is in a Canadian province, BC specifically.
Do employers match CPP and EI? Should I be paying for that under my commissions? Apparently these costs are also in the way of me obtaining future wages since the cost for me hourly are way too high due to the government requiring these investments. That's what he's told me.
