Hello, so I am a 24 year old who is currently working and making around 35k/year pre-tax. I live at home and I expect within a year or two I will be going back to school for a PhD (which will be funded ~30-35k/year) so I am not planning on having 0 income anytime soon.
I have 25k saved up from working and I need to invest it so that it actually goes to good use. I have heard good things about the Vanguard VIMAX mutual fund and was probably thinking of putting my money in there ~10-15k at the moment. My 403(b) just kicked in from my current job which is being matched at 5%.
I also have 1k in a savings account with my bank which is making next to nothing in interest (a penny a month). This is kinda just for emergencies.
Are there smarter things I should be doing with my money? I don't really have the time or the desire to be picking and choosing stocks. I just want a long-term investment that will reward me in the future.
Thanks for the help.
