We have an older TV from ~2007. We have been wanting to get a new one but want to plan and budget for it properly. Tonight it failed to turn on, the backlight wasn't working. I took it apart and looked around on youtube, I saw burn marks near two capacitors. I figured out how to test them, they tested fine. I pulled out my soldering iron resoldered the joints, the tv started without issue. Now we can plan out purchase without a timeline and do it on our terms. Frugal to me.
