I received an email stating that Bank of America was going to close my credit card account due to inactivity.
My freshman year of college I had absolutely no Financial understanding and I opened a savings and checking account with them because they were close to campus. They also gave me a credit card. Years later I got tired of dealing with them so I closed my checking and savings accounts but I kept the card in case of emergencies. I now use my Local Credit Union for everything. I didn't close the credit card because I didn't want to take a hit on my credit. Should I just let them go ahead and close this old card? It is my longest standing credit card right now, but things would have to go very wrong for me to actually use it again. My credit is currently very good and I'm in the process of trying to sell my current house and purchase a new one.
Edit: I added some more details below. But, I guess my question is, will my credit take a hit if I allow them to close the card on me? Is it worth keeping open?
Any advice is welcome. Thanks!
