I tried my hand at picking some value stocks and this earning's season was a disaster. In fact I managed to expertly pick stocks which almost all depreciated in the last month except for 1 or 2. It's almost impressive that I managed to pick all these losing stocks - I'm thinking I might need to reverse the signs on every term I used to analyze these stocks.
First of all, am I an idiot? Are these horrible investments? Secondly, one explanation I thought of is that the distribution for value stocks might be "skewed" - frequent losses but with a few stocks that incur significant gains. Is this accurate? Should I expect that many or even most of my value stocks will continue to get worse?
