So I took down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room in my new house, and turns out there was a considerable gap between the wooden floors of the dining room, and the tile floors of the kitchen. The gap is about 10cm wide, and in the middle there is a height difference where the wood floor is about 2cm higher than the tile floor (wood floor is also "loose" in the middle, so when stepped on, it compresses about 1 cm). Reflooring any of the rooms is not an option, so I need ideas on how to fill in that gap. Both floors are very old - the tile isn't sold any more, and the wood is very worn, so trying to mimic the patina and fill in the gap with something similar wouldn't end up very well.So my current train of thought is something completely different, that would "embrace" the fact that this does separate two rooms, if you get what I mean. The backsplash behind the stove will be dark blue, so putting dark blue tiles in this gap might work, but someone also suggested molding something in there - I have no idea how that would work though.I'm at a bit of a loss here, so if any of you DIY'ers have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sAeN7L
