I'm in the process of moving to another apartment in a new area, and am having difficulty finding a place that is 'cheap' but not horrible to live in. I'm trying to keep the rent around 20% of my take home income.
Part of the reason why I am moving is because my current place has become too much of a nightmare. The apartment complex has bed bugs, and someone was murdered across the street just a week ago.
Does anyone have any tips on finding affordable places to live without living in a slum?
