The current underfloor is a basement concrete slab with asbestos tiles (house built in 1974). Asbestos tiles are fixed and it's relatively flat. When I removed the carpet that was there I found some moisture between the carpet and the asbestos tiles. I've cleaned that up and now it's all dry after weeks of letting a dehumidifier run. I've bought "Level Quick" (LEVELQUIK RS SELF LEVELING UNDERLAYM) to make it very flat. I bought "Thin set" (LRG FRMT VERSABOND MORTAR WHITE) to use under my new 12 x 24 inch ceramic tiles. My question is can I do something now --install a moisture barrier of some sort-- to minimize the chance that moisture will screw up my new tile floor? Option 1: RedGuard waterproofing "paint" for over the Level Quick but under the Thin set (I read that two coats are necessary). Option 2: Aquabar moisture vapor retarder (also over the Level Quick but under the Thin set). Or something different? I've tested for moisture by taping a piece of plastic down for 72 hours and there was no sign of moisture but I'm not sure how it will be after weeks of heavy rain or melting snow and ice (I am in New England btw). Thank you for any tips.More info in case that's useful: the tiles are "Metro Glacier 12 in. x 24 in. Glazed Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile". I'm planning on 3/8 inch spacers.Included a picture here: http://ift.tt/2uKfKya via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2uIXHcb
