I am 28 and make about 30k per year. I live with my SO and we are cohabitating partners. He makes about 22k per year. We have been together for 14 years, and some of our finances are entwined. Our condo, cars, and health insurance are in my name. Therefore, I am worried about what would happen to him if something were to happen to me. I know either of us would be in a very unfortunate financial situation if something were to happen, because we both live paycheck-to-paycheck together. We don't have any family to rely upon, we only have each other. Therefore, we both want to take out small life insurance policies in our names, for about 30-50K, that would help the other take care of any expenses, make a dent in our mortgage, and pay off the rest of our cars.
What are some good options for life insurance companies for low income, cohabitating couples? We do have a small amount of money that we can set aside for this each month, but not enough for a massive one-time payment.
