Hello r/frugal, I don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but I suppose it could help people looking for a roommate to save money. I just got an apartment to start my new job and I was wondering what are some good ways to find a roommate. I've not been having a lot of luck, I've put up an ad on Craigslist and "Zumper" but I've only got one semi-solid lead, everyone else responds to the posting but then just goes silent after I send a reply.
One detail is that the city I'll be living in has a large college (11k students) and I am semi-hoping to get a student, as they'd most likely be in the apartment for at least a year or more and they'd be a similar age. One of my main questions is, when do students normally look for housing? What are some actually good resources for finding a roommate when you have no social connections in a new city?
