http://ift.tt/2uidMT5 house was built in 1946. I was doing some yard work and saw a ground coming up to the panel however it was not connected to anything in the ground. I dug about 2 feet and followed some old copper wires that practically disintegrated when I touch them. I assumed this was an old groundline from when the house was built. If there is an electrical grounding rod how deep would it be?I reviewed my home inspection and it showed that house is grounded to a water and gas line as seen in the first picture. Is this sufficient or should I install a ground rod? I looked at NEC code and it appears for the time the house was built grounding to water and gas line is appropriate. However, is it still good practice? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2uiK2FC
