I'm not sure if this is the right sub. Basically, my lease was up and I got got a new lease. Simple enough, right?

Well, two months later, I just received a letter saying that the balance was never paid and it's going to collections. It turns out the dealership didn't pay my returned lease even though they signed papers saying they would handle the payments.

I contacted the dealership and they said they will handle it on Monday. No one seemed to care too much and they said my credit wouldn't be hurt. I don't trust them.

I just had a baby and am going to buy a house in the next year. Do I have any legal recourse? Is it possible my credit doesn't take a huge hit because of this? Needless to say, I'm freaking pissed!

Just so everyone knows this was at a Paul Miller Dealership in New Jersey. It's a pretty big dealership around these parts and I'm surprised they screwed me this badly. Avoid them like the plague.

Edit: thanks for the down votes you guys. Should I be posting elsewhere? I'm sort of new to this site.
