Three months ago, I left my stressful job to pursue my love of, and belief in, connecting with the natural world. I want to try to carve a living out of this passion. I want to savour each moment of life, spend time with me kids, explore wilderness, and do something I believe does people good. So I've set up a blog about how we can invite nature into our lives, and will set up a web shop with honest, simple, hand made products. As part of this change in direction, we're going on a road trip around Sweden and Norway. In my research, I found the most stunning Norwegian log and glass cabin, north of the Arctic circle, that sits cantilevered above the water of the archipelago. Life there is simple: You eat local, from the island's bakery and what the local fishermen bring home. The cabin reflects biophilic design principles, i.e. connecting you with nature for your wellbeing. The design has two parts: the glass front exposes you to the rugged environment while the wooden rear is the cosy protected area. Humans want and need this from their homes. We want adventure, but also a safe retreat. I was so taken by it that I wrote this blog post: http://ift.tt/2t9ZWAb Hope you're as inspired by this place as I am, and that it serves as a reminder for simplicity.
