So I started a job about 7 months ago, under the impression that if I took the business to a new level of service and income, I would be compensated more.

So i took this job to be closer to home and work less hours. I negotiated my days and hours, and took a huge pay cut from my previous job to see my family more and work less. New boss knew my old salary and told me there was no way to match it but he would start me at X and if I grew the business that my salary would increase. Thought fair enough, I could manage financially for a few months & works out for me having all this extra time.

So about 3 weeks ago I finally decided to look at some financial numbers, and realized we are 3/4 of the way to matching last years total gross with 6 months still to go. Our review average went from a 3.4 to a 4.6, we have beaten all daily and weekly numbers from any of the prior years. All employees are making 40-50% more in tips. I have cut waste, liquor and overtime costs by 2/3. Increased catering business, cut advertising spending etc.

Last week I asked for a raise. So I was given, "well you know summer is on us and things tend to slow down" but they haven't. Also that "the numbers aren't as high or great as I make them seem, bc I don't know the expenses". Also that it was weird after 6 months to be asking for a raise. Which I told him I knew what everyone was making besides him, knew the Rent, cable, electric, food & liquor costs etc.

In the past 6 months he has managed to buy 2 new cars, and drop $12k into one of them alone in new accessories, taking 3 vacations, 2 of which were 10 day cruises. Has started a new business venture. Some staff who have been there since day 1, have frequently told me they have never seen it this busy, never seen him take off so much or not be around as much.

So any advice as what Else I can do to try to get a raise? My wife doesn't want me to quit bc she loves the hours but she knows financially I will need more income for us to be able to stop living paycheck to paycheck and start adding to our savings.(she works also)

Ever since I asked I have not seen or heard from him. He hasn't come into work, has been communicating through an employee to tell me certain things etc.

should i just give my notice and start looking? Ive never really been in this position before.

Thanks for any advice and help
