Hello Reddit! This is my first ever post. I'm 23 years old and have been doing some thinking of what my future should look like and investing my money into a home seems to me to be a good idea. I currently live at home with my parents and have managed to save 12k in my savings. I know this isn't enough to get things going in motion quite yet but I think it's a good start. I'm here to look for some guidance as to what steps I need to take next to get me towards my goal. Alongside owning the home I also want to rent extra rooms out to friends/acquaintances. For those who rent out their homes, is this a good idea? What are the pros and cons of being a landlord? Any advice for a first time home buyer or someone who's looking to own and rent out their home would be greatly appreciated. I just have no idea where to start and I don't really have anyone to go to for advice on this topic (if I asked my dad for advice he would just laugh and not take me seriously). I'm serious about this! Also I live in Ontario, Canada if that has any relevance.
