Hey PersonalFinance,
Been lurking reddit for a long time, made this throwaway to explain my situation and hopefully gain some insight.
So I recently just had a falling out with my mom and she told me I had to move out. I simply said okay, packed my bags and I'm currently couch surfing with a close friend. This is a temporary solution however, and I've been warned I only can stay until the "5th".
Things about me:
-I currently have no car (used my moms, never was in my name), so I have no reliable means of transportation (I can use Uber??, but my funds are very limited).
-I work at a Grocery store (part time, gaining anywhere from 23-40 hours per week)
-I have over 2000 USD to my name via a bank.
-Got accepted at Augusta University (for the upcoming fall semester), sadly my loan to SallieMae was denied due to lack of a cosigner/credit. I have partial scholarships due to honor role, but it's nowhere near enough.
-Currently surfing in Georgia
-I'm willing to enlist in the Armed forces if needed vs being homeless, but I heard this can take upwards from 2 weeks-a year before you head to Basic training/get deployed, and you need a stable home?
-I contacted small churches around my area (unfortunately where I'm at there is no "megachurch").
-Relationships with extended family is very strained/they live outside the state. I highly doubt they will take me in, and I'd prefer to use them as a last resort (college doesn't pan out, have to quit job, etc etc).
So Reddit, what are my options? Is there a way I can somehow gain a loan(s) from my current bank/third party in order to attend college freshman year and thus get a job on campus? Or should I explore other options (if so, what exactly are those options)?
Not looking for a handout, like I said I'm willing to change jobs as long as transportation/housing is available.
