Why is it that the equipment or the last and final bill is such a recurring problem? Why is it that the companies fail to finalize these accounts? I am getting a notice on a five year old cable account not paid. I was there, I surrendered the equipment, I paid the final balance, I got a receipt and just a year ago, I threw away said receipt. I thought while doing it "I don't need this anymore! " Now it is(obviously) in collections, and when I verbally denied this as being a valdid debt over the phone they launched their "investigation." What they sent me was a lame letter head statement that basically said balance minus equipment return equals $223. How would you proceed on this?
