I honestly have no idea why, but even though my family's financial situation is better than it's ever been (and it's never been bad) it seems my mom has become ridiculously penny-pinching. My dad has gotten a raise and is earning significantly more than he has before, yet any time he spends any amount of money she complains and yells at him for being wasteful (despite it being money he's earned). Even when we're on vacation she does everything just to save a penny or two which ruins all the fun. Everything in her life revolves around not wasting money. She even insisted on breeding our dog just to sell the puppies and make some money on the side, something my whole family is opposed to ideologically. It simply makes no sense that now that our economic situation has improved she's become cheaper than ever. Does anybody have some kind of explanation for why this could be and what we can do to make her relax and enjoy life a bit instead of thinking constantly about money?
