Last October, my GF and I moved from a huge house (2400sf) to a mini studio (460sf). It was shocking at first, then we both found peace in living sinply, but now time is playing game with my GF mind.

To me, that studio is perfect, even if it is quite small from our standards (and also with our 4 bikes!!). I think that it's the best to live simply, avoid any overconsumption of useless objects and to focus on what we love only (biking!).

According to her, it is more complicated. The change was such a positive thing in her life and mindset, but the fact that we sometime struggle with too much objects (donations from family or friends per example) and the fact that she's always got the past house in mind is currently keeping her from being fully happy. It looks like she remember only the positive sides from that house (space) and avoid thinking about the downsides of it (time loss to commute/to maintain it, too much stuff not used, not really happy with a huge financial responsability, not able to afford our real projects, etc).

I keep telling her that nothing is perfect or will be ever perfect, that we can improve things in the studio and make our other projects reality with such a downsizing.

Is it normal to always think about the past in a positive way, think about the future as better that the present, but never really enjoy the present?
