I am fresh out of college and going into a well paying job (over 100k/yr). I have a good relationship with my mom, but over the last decade she's gambled away hundreds of thousands of dollars, including my college savings, and has gone into substantial debt including a second mortgage and maxed credit cards to finance gambling. She's lied to and effectively stolen from close family members, and I can't trust her with money whatsoever. She's also fairly secretive about what has happened and her current financial situation, so I don't have the full picture there. Generally speaking the more I find out, the worse it actually is.

She's currently unemployed, fairly deep in debt and AFAIK she's not gambling. I'll have the ability and desire to help her, but I don't know how to do so without jeopardizing my own financial security, enabling her to relapse, or harming my relationship with her.

Let me know if more information would be helpful, but respectfully please keep advice on the personal finance side of things.
