Hello Reddit! Longtime lurker here . About a year ago I stopped caring about my finances because I was depressed and stupid. Racked up about 25 grand in debt on 5 cards. About a week ago I paid off the last of my debt !!! My secret was I called the credit card companies directly and said I would give them 30 to 50 percent of the balance owed if they would settle it in full. All of them agreed and today I'm debt free .
