As the title says, I'm looking for a new desk chair. I've been reading review after review and the more information I gain, the more complicated the decision becomes. So I decided to make my own post.

My budget is flexible. I work from home, spend 8-20 hours a day in my desk chair, and decided to make a priority of it. I'm currently using this chair and have a few issues with it. First, some of the springs fell out of the back, so the motion is no longer fluid. Second, the tilt mechanism has broke after a year or so, in such a way that if I lean back too far, it locks into position and has to be forced out of it. And last, I've developed severe pain, mostly in my lower backside to left leg, that after ruling everything else out, is currently being blamed as an issue with my sciatic nerve.

I've been looking at the HM Mirra 2, Aeron, and Embody. I've ruled the Aeron out because I'm not a fan of the mesh on my current desk chair, and believe I would prefer to stay away from it. The Mirra 2 looks nice but the price makes me wonder what I'd be missing out on compared to, say, the Embody. The Embody looks great but I've read reviews calling it squeaky/loud and I believe that would bother me.

I'm also looking at the Steelcase Leap V2 and Gesture, HumanScale Freedom, and several other chairs I've ran across like the ErgoDirect OM5.

So in short, I'd really like to know your perspectives on some of these chairs. It's difficult for me to go and test them out, so I'll likely be buying them online, sight-unseen. Any direct comparisons between the Embody, Gesture, Freedom, and OM5 would be ideal, as those are currently my top picks. I'd also love criticism of any of those - explaining why I should rule them out.
