My wife had a baby last year, but there were some complications with the pregnancy that called for extra testing (the baby has since been born and couldn't be healthier). But insurance wouldn't cover the extra tests, so we ended up paying out of pocket. This was in April of 2016. Then a few days ago, we receive a check in the mail from my wife's doctor for almost 2k, with absolutely no explanation except a date of service.
I'm having a hard time imagining how this could be a scam, but I've never received an unsolicited refund check with no explanation, so it feels strange.
We plan to call the doctor's office for an explanation, but wanted to see if this was normal and if anyone else had a similar experience?
