Hi!
I work in a advisory / consultant Company with a very high turnover (90% of people leave before their 3rd year - standard in the industry). I am part of an IT audit team - we generally work in pairs (senior+junior). I am currently in the position of a senior. The thing is all of my senior colleagues left / are in the process of leaving before the summer ends.
Our work is generally very seasonal and come september-february i am very likely going to be literally living at work due all the overtime that will be required of me. The work cannot be postponed / not performed due to already signed contracts.
Our manager has let me know that I will be promoted during summer (common practice), which is promising (salary-wise), however i am not sure how that will actually affect my salary (person deciding the raise is known for being stingy). Discussing salary is generally forbidden - i will try to find out what others have made on the levels i will be promoted to.
I do not want to leave the Company as I enjoy the work, projects we do and believe i have still things to learn. The Company is looking in hiring new "senior" people, however this has never worked out in the past.
To recap: I will be the only senior left (not counting the manager). I will be responsible for training and leading others. It is unlikely other senior will be hired / will be competent in time. If they get hired I am fairly sure they will be paid much more than they are going to pay me - unless i do something.
My question is: Should I try to negotiate for more pay / other benefits? I feel like this is great opportunity for me and dont want to get shafted. Paid much less than the the seniors they will likely hire, who may not be as effective as me during the crunch time.
Basically i am looking for someone who has gone through something similiar and their experience. Thanks in advance!
