As stated, I just turned 30 a couple months back and am getting worried that I have no retirement funds. In actuality, I could not even begin to explain what a 401K is... I've had it before with previous employers but surprise, surprise cashed it out upon leaving the company (Not smart; I know). I've pretty much been spending my adult life carefree as far as financial planning for the distant future. I pay all my bills on time, paid off my vehicle, and am sure to budget for all expenses in the near future, but am completely clueless as far as retirement funds and picking an appropriate institution(?) for my planning. Clearly I don't even know what terminology to use here; I'm so lost! It's rather embarrassing but I figure better late than never. I need guidance on where to begin, who to contact, what the basic options are, how it works, etc. Please Reddit help me out; I promise to never withdrawal my retirement funds ever again! (I've matured) Also, I'm employed full time and have been with the company almost 2 years. If that factors in.
