I know people will response with things like "just don't discuss it" but if you are involved in a conversation about money, what's the best way to respond if you have a fair amount of money in savings, as I've seen people on here over the past few months tell friends that they have a few thousand dollars/pounds/euros stashed away and everyone uses them a meal ticket. My dad is excellent with money and has money saved but always tells people he's skint and struggles to pay bills, which in fact he doesn't. Is this a good approach or not, as I think this makes you look bad, but each to their own.
I have let it slip to a few friends that I have money saved and now they are asking if they can borrow some, how do I go about dealing with these situations also as it's unlikely that if I lend the money I will never see it returned. Don't shoot me down if flames, just want some expert opinion on the matter and how you would go about dealing with these two situations?
