UTILITY ROOM SURPRISE!Moved into new home, built in 1990. A lot of things rigged with bubblegum and bailing wire, as they say.As I hooked up washer and dryer, the dryer vent in the wall seemed really suspicious. I fiddled around with it a little and it basically fell right out. Sure enough, as I investigated, there was more lint than insulation. Probably a 3 inch gap between the dryer vent behind the wall and the actual external vent connection that was screwed into the drywall.I had a recessed vent box in my last place so I thought "hey here is my DIY chance for improvement."Hrm, maybe not as easy as I anticipated. The vent behind the wall is rigid and apparently fixed to the stud. http://ift.tt/2rLZrgR REQUEST: I would like to install a recessed dryer box (similar to http://ift.tt/2sTlJwt) but I don't know how to get there. Dryer vent in the wall is nailed to stud.Thoughts or ideas?? What is the best remedy? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sEew4e
