My husband has a formal work function on Saturday and I had nothing to wear (he has a nice pinstripe 3-piece tailored suit). I haven't really been anywhere since before our son was born (18mo) and I've lost about 85 lbs since he was born so clearly I have nothing in my closet that will fit the bill.
We went thrift-shop-hopping last night looking for a nice dress for me to wear to his function and after several try-ons and a couple of store hops I found the perfect dress, fits perfectly and looks really nice on me and still had the original tags on ($210). I also located a handbag (more elegant than my edc "mom bag") to go with it. I already have a pair of very nice orthopedic dress shoes I invested in several years ago because I have finicky feet.
Total damage for a "formal night out" ensemble - $15.
