I power washed/sanded the surface of my deck but my railings and balusters are beyond repair. Most of my 4x4 posts and 2x4 railings have rot and my caps have warped and splintered.My current set up annoys me as the 4x4 posts were notched so that they can attach with lag bolts to the rim/edge joists. My main reason for wanting to change would be to have the railings feel more solid as currently they have a bit of give to them and are not square. My question is would I be better served using a jig saw to cut a holes in my deck boards so that I can slide the posts on the inside of the joists. Or will re-attaching in the current configuration and tightening the bolts be sufficient? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2t3ai8y
