So, I finally got around to converting my Chase Sapphire Preferred to a no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Unlimited. It took about three minutes on the phone, and a pro-rated portion of the annual fee was refunded to my card.
I specifically asked to convert it to the Freedom card, not realizing there are two—Freedom and Freedom Unlimited. I don't plan on using it, so I didn't really care which one.
I thought it would be way more of a hassle, but it was super easy. Just an FYI if anyone else is trying to reduce costs (or who has gotten a Reserve and is no longer using their Preferred).
