I run a small successful software start-up (10-25 employees). We have had modest growth over the past couple of years but recently we have discovered a scalable solution for explosive growth. Over the last quarter we have drawn a lot of attention because of our growth. This lead the biggest player in the space to approach us and say equivalently, "sell to us or we will apply all of our resources to replicating your product and undercutting your price." The offer is a respectable (7-12x run rate on this month's revenue). Funny enough we do like their company culture and think we would work well with the CEO. Although we feel if we sell now we are selling short but obviously concerned about the risk of our competitors capabilities.
