I intend on upgrading my 1960 houses basement window to meet current code for a basement bedroom. I plan on cutting the foundation to accommodate new bigger windows. I will custom order new windows that will fit into the existing width of the opening however the depth will need to be increased from 12 inches to 31.5 inches. There will be about 5 feet of foundation between the bottom of the window and the floor, My question is are there any structural implications with my plan? I think it should be fine as I'm not modifying the existing head assembly currently holding the floor frame above the window. Is there any risk of the foundation wall buckling due to the deeper window buck? Has anyone done this before? Is there any reason not to do it this way? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2pY345g
