Hi all, I'm finally 25 and I'm looking to rent a car for about a month + 10 days starting around July 5. I've rented a car as a 24-year old before, but that was for less than a week and there were extra fees involved.

I'll be picking up and returning from a major airport since that's where I'm arriving/departing from. I've looked at Enterprise, Hertz, Alamo, Budget, and Avis. It seems like Enterprise, Hertz, and Alamo are around $2100+ for my timeframe.

Through Budget's own website, the total cost is $1100 and Avis is similar. My budget is between $1000-1300, so I guess I'm not on a super tight budget, just can't shell out $2000+. Is there a catch to these great prices? I've checked sites like Kayak and Costco Travel and their listed price for a Budget/Avis rental is significantly higher for the same class of car than what's listed on the those companies' own websites.

Is there a catch here? I noticed that the Avis and Budget don't have the greatest Yelp reviews for the airport I'm renting from. Some people complained about tons of upgrades added without their knowledge even when specifically requesting not to have insurance or anything else added on, etc. So I'm trying to balance cost with "is this going to be a miserable experience for me?"

I'd be arriving on July 5th, and I'm not sure when most people's travel plans are but I'm assuming it's going to be a madhouse and I know it's possible they might have to put me in a less-than-ideal car. Just wondering if anyone has any tips for me in this situation. Do I just go with Budget/Avis?

Will a location outside of the airport be less busy and a bit more cordial? I checked Budget and Avis locations downtown and the price is actually slightly higher (but still within my price range)...
