First time poster, but I love all the help everyone gives eachother here!
At the start of the year, my phone's battery life took a sharp dive (as some Apple products have been known to do). On top of that, the charger port on it became faulty and meant I had to sit my phone in a certain position for it to charge all the way to 100%, which would then only last about 2 or 3 hours max.
After discovering how ridiculously expensive it is to buy a new phone outright, one of my co-workers suggested buying a battery off eBay and replacing it myself. I was skeptical because I'm not too great with electronics, but I'd replaced the back glass on an iPhone 4 before so I decided to give it a shot.
So, $18 and 3 days later, my battery arrived! After a 3 minute YouTube video and 20 minutes of work, the battery was in and running. In the week since, the new battery has gotten through whole days with 10-40% battery left and I'm loving it! The charger port is still temperamental but I now have faith in doing self-replacements and have forked out a whopping $5 for the new part.
All in all, by next week I should hopefully have a near-new iPhone for $23 and a couple of hours work instead of a brand new phone for ~$1000 (AUD)
