Hi! DIY help needed! We have a year old baby, and we are moving into a unit that has a carpet, but with the baby, we would like some kind of laminate floor instead, in the living and dining room area. In this unit, we are not allowed to remove carpet and install a floor ourselves, and they won't do it for us (because the carpet is not yet 20 years old!), unless we pay $4,000. However, we can do a temporary solution, that we would remove once we move out - some kind of temporary floor. We won't live there for more than 3 years or so, and I don't want a fancy solution, something around $500 would be ideal.I have been reading about laminate over carpet solutions, and it seems it is not a most horrible short term solution, but I still find myself in need of advice. What is the best solution for temporary laminate (or other cheap material) over carpet? Does anybody have a good experience with it?Here is a bit more info: The carpet is probably somewhere around 6-8 mm thick. The area we want to cover with laminate is about 300 square feet. I don't care about warranty, but I don't want a damage that would cause accidents. The floor needs to be uninstalled and removed when we move out, leaving the carpet in a decent condition. (No, we can't move to a different apartment; No, we are not paying $4000; No, we are not allowed to remove the current carpet; No we are not allowed to install a permanent floor ourselves; And no, we are not gonna just leave the current carpet as it is)Any advice will be highly appreciated! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2qliPE5
