As I stated, my husband commissioned in the US Army amongst other reasons so they would help pay his federal student loans under the Student Loan Repayment Program. He commissioned as an officer on March 21, 2014. At that date, according to their contract, the government was to begin payment on his loans. 3 years later, they have made zero payments.

From what I understand, this is not an uncommon experience. He now has years of extra interest that has accrued because they have made no payments. Is the government going to pay for the interest accrued over the past 3 years now, since they have been negligent in paying, despite him having fulfilled his contractual duties?

I know he has the option of Senatorial and Congressional complaint letters. He is planning on doing this ASAP (only took so long because he wasn't trying to step on the feet of his commanders in his unit since they have good relationships :| ). Is there anything beyond this that he can do, or is he just SOL? Thanks for any advice you can give us.
