My family has been going through some financial difficulty which I won't go into, but long story short, I'm in my final year at University and we weren't going to be able to pay my tuition. As a non-EU student I have no recourse whatsoever. As such I contacted my employer (I'm a part time web-dev for my uni) and explained my situation. Shortly after they graciously offered to pay a large portion of my outstanding tuition. This was a godsend as I was in the process of being sanctioned and withdrawn from the University, but thanks to them my tuition has been fully paid! Since then I have been slaving away, doing extra hours which I have not billed them for. However, today I went in to work and they pulled me aside, indicating that I will no longer receive a salary. Today was the day I would be submitting my timesheet for the work I have completed, which I can no longer do, leaving me without a salary at the end of the month. It was not made clear that this would be the arrangement, and given my desperate situation at the time I did not stop to think about the implications. Now I find myself in a precarious situation; on the one hand, despite this recent development, I am still in a better situation than I would have been (being withdrawn and deported), but on the other hand, I still need to feed myself. I am also currently working on my dissertation (undergrad), and this means that in addition to that, I would be working for my current employer, and I would have to seek further employment to pay the bills. This is a difficult situation and I want to resolve it with as much tact as possible so as not to give the impression that I am ungrateful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
