TLDR; I'm looking for an online store where I can send in the measurements of six residential windows and they'll send me pre-cut to-size frosted window film. Background: When I lived in the UK I wanted to add privacy to the front ground-floor windows as there was a sidewalk 4 feet from the windows. Hopped online and immediately found multiple sites where you can send in the measurements of each window and they custom cut each film. Seeing as the house was 104 years old (not kidding), each window was slightly different in size. The films arrived, and I had all 10 installed in no time. Now I'm back on this side of the Atlantic and I just installed black-tint on 4 windows to "black-out" the media room to cut the reflection/glare from outside on the plasma screens. (yeah, I shouldn't be playing video games during the day, but that's another post). Bought the 100% black-out tint on Amazon Prime, along with the spray on stuff and the hard plastic squeegie thing. No problems at all during the install..... except for my cutting. I had laid it all out on a large table (ping-pong!) and while it all fit just fine, it was time consuming to do the cuts and make sure the long cuts (50") stayed straight and true. Then once the film is on the window you trim off the excess. That was a pain since the frames are wood and it was very easy to trim off or scrape the wood surround as I trimmed off the film.If I hadn't had the ease of installing the 10 window films in the UK, I would have had the ignorance-is-bliss attitude of "this is just how it's done". But the pre-cut method is SO much faster, easier, better. Now I have six more windows to do. Not in tint, but in privacy/frosted film. Sure, I could go back to Amazon and just order up a few rolls but the thought of doing 24 cuts on the table (4 per window), and then 24 trim-offs on the awkwardly placed windows after the film is on, totally puts a damper on the "to-do" project.I've found a number of online stores where they sell pre-cut tint film for cars. And a couple of high-end places where they sell pre-cut decorative film for residential windows. But I've not found any frosted window film places based in Canada or the US that allow you to enter in a list of the measurements of each individual window. Can someone point me in the right direction? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2q2TQ4M
