I'm currently stuck as an Executive Assistant in a corporation that treats me, and all other assistants, like garbage. We get two weeks vacation, no bonuses, can't leave our desk for lunch, etc. I've felt miserable here for a long time and started pursuing other opportunities.

I interviewed yesterday for a wonderful new job managing a capital campaign at a local nonprofit. The hours are better, I get wonderful time off, benefits, sick days, etc. It's a beautiful environment and I'd feel great working for an organization that makes a difference. I would be making around $50,000 a year and I'm trying to see if it's feasible. I also just received my yoga teacher certification so I'd be able to sub classes when I'm not working and make money on the side that way.

As for debt: I have $1600 left on my car payments. I do have $5,000 worth of medical bills that I am working on and all my credit card debt is paid off. My boyfriend and I currently split rent of $2700/month (we live in a very expensive suburb) and we are looking to downsize significantly when our lease is up in late September - our lease states that we cannot break it earlier without paying a significant penalty (if you have any tips as to how to get out of this, let me know!!). I recently found a one bedroom for $1500 that we can easily manage. He is going to graduate school full time in the fall which means some of the day to day expenses will end on me. I have no savings.

Thoughts? Is the career change feasible with such a drastic pay cut?
