I was offered a job at a major multi national corporation (~$5 billion in net income a year). They told me I aced their interview and had all of the qualifications that they wanted.
24 hours later, HR calls to tell me that the written offer they made me at $73,000 was incorrect, and gave me a new offer of $66,000. This is after I informed another company I was waiting on about the offer in an effort to speed up their selection process/not lose me if they were interested.
I let HR know that I would not be accepting any offer below my written offer and they told me, in much nicer terms: "tough shit. If you want it, take this amount"
The difference is nearly 10%, which is a lot more to me the person than to them the company, especially when they made the mistake - not me. I felt extremely disrespected and let them know that, and they simply pulled the offer off of the table.
Did I fuck up somewhere in this process? Or am I justified in feeling disrespected and not accepting a job at a company that would pull this shit?
