Washing your car yourself will save you money, and do a much better job than an automatic car wash. Adding a proper layer of wax will also help keep the exterior clean, slightly improve gas mileage, and keep the paintjob. I'd also get some decent interior wipes/spray, and shampoo for the floors and seats. Just because a car diminishes in value quickly, doesn't mean you have to let it go completely downhill!
