AYI has generated phenomenal returns relative to peers over the past 15+ years, however it seems as though they generally operate in a commodity hardware space. Does anyone know/have insight into why they have generated such premium returns? It seems to me that it has to be related to their sales channel and relationships with distributors. (Maybe their tech matters as well, but I would think that talking about the hardware advancements is more a marketing tactic than reality).
