The water company alerted us and said we used 1000 gallons in a single day. We usually use about 900 gallons for an entire month. This isn't possible because nobody was even home that day. Nobody left any water on and I know because I was the last one to have left the house. The toilet wasn't running either and the landlord checked for leaks and there was none. The water company refuses to send anyone out and gave me the only option of "once in a lifetime leak refund" which she said would not cover the entire bill. She refused to tell me anything else other than repeating how much was used that day over and over and how it could possibly be "leaks, sprinklers, or owning a pool" which I told her multiple times I own neither and have no leaks.
What do I do? Do I have any options other than to pay for the phantom water?
Edit: for perspective I'm looking at my monthly usage and it goes like this: April 12- 60 gallons April 13- 135 gallons April 14- 30 gallons April 15- 1638 gallons April 16- 22 gallons April 17- 45 gallons
Edit: Got a reading by reading which goes as follows:
Between the previous day at 8 pm to 3 AM the next day : 748 gallons 3 am to 9 am : 760 gallons 9 am to 3 pm : 86ish gallons 3 pm to 9 pm : 43ish gallons
