I currently have a 09 Scion xD with 81k miles on it. I am the only owner and I bought it new in April of 09. It's been paid off since dec 2011. Car insurance runs me $45 a month on it for full coverage(no accidents or tickets on my record). The warranty just went out at 75k miles and I used it about 4 times(to the tune of 4k in repairs) so I'm kind of nervous to drive it now without it! Anyways I really don't like having a older car and I know it's going to be due for some major repairs in the future and tires, brakes and all that stuff in about 10k miles. Wondering if it would be better to sell it myself for 5k and then buy new car for around 20k now(I have the funds to pay it in full or take a 3 year loan out and make payments if the interest is low). Insurance will likely raise to $65 a month. Or just wait it out and pay around 2k+ for maintenance (tires and brakes alone will be 1.3k in 10k miles and It will need some fluids flushed and possible a belt change at 100k miles and the battery is 5 years old so I'm sure that's also soon too)! I also have a toddler and her car seat doesn't fit well in the car but I've been dealing with it for almost 2 years, it would be nice to have a bigger backseat!
