How many of you guys have a plan of investment or shorts when a natural disaster strikes a region in the U.S or other parts of the world (ex. Hurricanes, flooding, and earthquakes). Remember when Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans and broke the levees, thus causing massive floods. Did you move your investments or shorted companies that were affected? Like shopping malls, utility companies or house insurance stocks? Or when a tsunami hit Japan in 2011 causing billions in damages and hurting japan's ecomony and saw the demise of nuclear companies after Fukushima nuclear plant accident. Scientist have been saying that a major earthquake will happen in California in the future (not a matter of if, but a matter of when) do you have plans to withdraw your investments and start shorting or execute some put options? If you know any public companies that will affected by such future natural disaster list them below.
