I work at a place that, due to security concerns, does not allow smartphones. And I love it. I actively look forward to going to work where I can be without my smartphone (I carry a basic phone instead).

During the day, I can focus on work without getting constant notifications every few minutes. If ever I need to check my phone for an important mail, I have to go to the security help desk to check it out, and I do that very rarely.

Now an update to the no smartphone rule is being proposed wherein you can carry your phone in, but only after security checks. Everyone in office is celebrating this move, and it seems like I'm the only person who doesn't want it. I know that even if I know that I am happier without using it, I will probably fall back to the same patterns (being distracted, constantly browsing redddit etc).

If there are any people with similar situation I would like to hear from them and would also welcome suggestions on how to keep smartphone addiction at bay in this case.
