Basically I'm trying to build the Door of Durin from the Lord of the Rings. What I would like to do however is create a panel that hangs on the wall that is about 1.5 metres tall by about a metre wide that will look like a plain white panel until you turn it on, when the door will be revealed.I'm trying to figure out the best way to make that possible and still have the image come out somewhat crisp and clean.So far most of my ideas revolve around the same style as an LED wood clock It looks like most of these have the LEDs just under a very very very thin piece of veneer or sheeting.My idea revolves around making a light box to the dimensions I need and filling it with LED rope lights that I can buy off alibaba or equivalent and then getting a plotter printer to print the B&W image for me at a local print shop and cutting it out of a piece of white vinyl to block out the light and putting that over a piece of perspex (plexiglass).
